Happy Monday!!!!
I want to send out a Praise to God for the blessings He poured out on us last night in church. We had our Christmas play (directed by Misty Scalf) and man was it a good one. We had 106 in attendance and when the altar call was given - 7 souls came forward and gave their hearts to Christ. Five of these 7 have addictions to alcohol, drugs and pain killers. Some would say write these folks off because they will never change but I believe God is still God and is capable of casting out the devils that plague the souls of these precious people. Please pray for these 7 souls - they will need the support of other Christians to help them overcome these addictions.
Praise be to the living God.

A God Of The Heart : Epilogue - Keith Hall
I wanted to revisit this topic briefly and tie up a few loose ends. I've been talking about God's desire to rule in our hearts and that this is something He requires from us. That is even evidenced in the plan for salvation in the transition from the law to grace. The inherent weakness of the law was, that even when adhered to,it produced no change in the heart of the individual. A cycle of sin followed by sacrifice, and repeated ad infinitum may have satisfied the law's requirements but nowhere did it afford the intimate relationship that I believe God desires with each of us. I worked with one Catholic lady a while back whose son was attending Christian bible based activities. Being Catholic, this was already a matter of concern to her. While I was attempting to witness to her she complained that her son came home and said to her that you could have a real relationship with God and it could be just like a close friendship. He could literally talk to Him and everything. She was worried that he was getting his head filled with such crazy thoughts. When I told her that her son was correct and that God not only allows this type of relationship, he desires it, the confusion in her eyes was evident. She could only concieve of a God who was distant and unapproachable and that if anything should transpire of a personal nature between Him and her it must be conducted through a priest. Does that sound familiar ? It would be sin, confess (sacrifice), and repeat ad infinitum with no real commitment or relationship of the heart. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Mission's Thanksgiving Dinner
Yesterday, made me very proud to be a member of the MISSION. We had a great turn out for the Thanksgiving Dinner at the Quality Inn. I am sure there was well over 100 people served. We had many first time guests to meet our church family. Special thanks goes out to all who helped yesterday, wether cooking, cleaning, setting up, or serving. We couldn't do all this without your help. Several families had pictures taken and they should be available for viewing by December 3. Thanks Mission you make me proud of my church family.

A God Of The Heart Pt. 2 - Keith Hall
The last time I used this forum I was talking about God's desire to rule (in) your heart and that He would accept nothing less. God knows that "where your treasure is, there will your heart be also". Where is YOUR treasure and where are YOU searching for it ? I believe we are all born with a hole in our heart. No, not the medical condition of atrial septal defect. I'm referring to a spiritual hole in the heart. People spend their lives trying every man made answer to fill that hole. An endless searching through drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, sex, work, hobbies, etc. leaves them just as empty as when their quest began. They search in vain for a worldly answer to a spiritual need and Satan is only too glad to provide them with things to lead them astray. That desperate search will only end when you surrender your heart to the one who died for you and the surest sign that those various diversions are from Satan is the fact that none ever satisfy. You are always searching for another fix, a greater high, more of whatever you use to fill the void and still you return shortly afterward thirsting for more. When you come to Jesus you will thirst no more. There is nothing greater to search on for and no need to journey elsewhere. In God you are complete. The void is filled forevermore by the only one who can complete you and end your search.

A God Of The Heart Part 1 - Keith Hall
Can you remember the first verse of scripture that you learned ? Well, I can. For me it was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." As a young boy who grew up in a non-churchgoing home, I learned that scripture fairly early on but it wasn't until many years later that I had any concept what it meant. You see, I assumed that it meant that in order to go to heaven I had to believe in the existence of God and His son, Jesus. Well, that was simple enough. I already believed in the existence of God. These were the days of Madelyn Murray and I knew that, unlike her, I was no atheist. I believed that all was right between the Lord and I for many years. I didn't know anything about being "saved", "born again", or "redeemed." I BELIEVED so therefore I must be a BELIEVER ! It was many years later that someone took the time to explain to me that a mere intellectual acknowledgement that the Lord of all existed was not what He required of me. The distance between my head and my heart is only approximately 15 inches but transferring my acceptance of God from the former to the latter proved to be a lengthy process. Asking God to pardon my sins finally gave Him access to my heart. God desires to rule in our hearts and He will accept nothing less. If God reigns in your heart, He has your head also. Yielding your heart to God is an act of contrition that allows Him to begin to turn you into that "new creation" that you were meant to be in Christ Jesus.
